The Kid starts Grade One in two weeks time. It’s hard to believe. I’m sure I’ll be saying that on his first day of matric, too. Last year I was completely unprepared – I lost the list of things he needed for his first day (blaming pregnancy brain) and we arrived empty-handed and he was devastated. I hadn’t covered his files, he didn’t have a water bottle/sunblock/tissues or anything. I felt so awful for being such a bad, forgetful mom.
This year, I’m getting everything ready, well in advance. We bought his uniforms yesterday and I will get the rest of the things he needs, today. I will label every single little thing. I have Superman wrapping paper for his files. We bought a whiteboard to do his weekly schedule (swimming, karate, homework etc) and a reward chart.
This year, we will be organized. This year, we will get it done right.
He’s excited at the prospect of a new school year, a new class and a newer, more big-boy uniform.
This is him, trying on his new threads, in the store yesterday. (When did he get so tall?)

Priceless moment 🙂
Good luck with the first year of primary school. It’s not that bad as what others always say or you might hear. It’s actually a great experience.
good luck with the first day of “big school” its always so exciting but once they get into grade one they suddenly grow up
Its a bitter sweet moment sending your wee person to Grade 1 for the first time. It’s an emotional day for them, but more importantly you.
It’s a brilliant idea to be prepared and you seem to have everything under control.
You also reminded me that I should be covering books!!
Happy New Year!
OMG he’s so grown up!!
