It’s Not All Tits and Ass, This Being A Woman Thing.

In celebration of National Women’s Day, the supercool people at Pick n Pay would like to know all  about your inspirational women. Not only can you win R1000 in gift cards, but your inspirational woman will win too! They’d like to know all about this woman and why you think she’s inspirational and how she’s impacted on your life and they’d like you to blog about it, too.

So once you’ve blogged all about your inspirational woman, please would you then comment on this Facebook Note with your blog post URL’s and the PnP people will then select a winner next Tuesday 10th August with the help of  Facebook and Twitter friends.

And if you’re not planning on blogging about your inspirational woman (and at this point, I have to ask: why tf not?) then you should, at the very least, participate on Facebook or Twitter by commenting and liking the individual blog post entries put into the comments section of this Facebook Note. The more the judges hear from you telling them who you think should win, the more their influence might be swayed!

The Rules:
1. This competition is open to all bloggers residing in South Africa.
2. Only entrants who post their links to this note will be counted.
3. All entry blog posts should mention the link to Pick n Pay’s Facebook page [http://facebook.com/picknpay] and/or Twitter account [http://twitter.com/picknpay]
4. Winners will be chosen on Tuesday 10 August 2010.
5. Judge’s decision is final.
6. This prize is not redeemable for cash.
7. Winning blogger must be a fan of the Pick n Pay Facebook page or Pick n Pay’s Twitter account follower
.

So now that we’ve got that bit out the way….here’s my entry.

My inspirational woman is someone you probably know very well already, in fact her name just happens to have a tag all of its own on this blog – so she gets mentioned a fair amount. The Snowgoose is one of those rare people that is something to everyone. She puts an insane amount of effort into being an excellent something to everyone. She’s an amazing girlfriend, she’s a seriously rad friend, she’s an adoring aunt and she’s an amazing little workaholic and she’s more generous, thoughtful and ready to have your back without notice than anyone I know.

She’s the kind of loyal and devoted that you really want behind you. She’s ready to drop what she’s doing and take you out for coffee/cocktails/pizza/cheesecake just so that you have someone to talk it out with. She’s honest (sometimes to the point of being blunt) but that’s what makes her such an amazing woman. There’s no shutting her up, and despite the bluntness of what sometimes comes out of her mouth, she doesn’t see the value in sugarcoating the truth. And everyone needs at least one woman like that in their life.

She’s the kind of sentimental that gets all mushy over a beaded wire goose. She’s the kind of generous that speaks of good gifts and thoughtfulness. She’s generous with her time, she’s generous with her opinions and she’s really, really generous (and loving) after a few glasses of wine. She’s generally (one of three) of the loudest people at the party, and has some really interesting theories on Johannesburg and rain and the two being directly related because Johannesburg is the world’s biggest man-made forest…or something like that.

She’s smart, she’s funny and according to the Mail & Guardian, she’s one young South African you have to take for lunch.  she’s well-spoken and very much in control of just about anything that can be physically or mentally manipulated to the outcome she requires. She’s always multi-tasking to the maximum and spends her life running to and from meetings and dealing with clients and tweeting about traffic and then rushes home to feed her Ginger and her two lizard babies.

The strongest Goose I know, Heidi inspires me to give more of myself every day. To try harder, to be more organised, to be more efficient and to stick up for myself, more.

And to my dear, dear Snowgoose, I know you’re hurting right now but we’re all here for you. For as long as you need us to be.
