This blue cardigan was worn by his father 30-ish years ago. It was worn by his brother, 5 years ago. It’s not a hand-me-down, it’s an heirloom.
The Toffee is getting cuter by the day. Five months and a day have passed since he first joined our family. He’s absolutely everything a baby should be. Squishy, adorable and cuddlesome. He’s always smiling, always happy, very content. He never cries. He’s low-maintenance and lovely.
He now weighs over 7kg but still feels like a teeny toffee to me. Much smaller than his brother was. He’s also at that awkward stage where 3-6month sized clothes don’t fit, but 6-9months sizes don’t fit him either. He has grown fat rolls on his legs and arms. He was just a skinny thing when he was born – all legs and loose skin, so this makes my mamaheart very happy.
He has an awesome laugh and loves being tossed up in the air and tickled. He finds peekaboo games hilarious. Actually, he finds most things hilarious. He’s also finally mastered the art of the roll-over. From tummy to back. It still requires a fair amount of effort on his part, but he’s getting there.
I showed The Fiance this picture I took (it’s of The Toffee, just as he rolled and landed on his back, his hands were still windmilling) and he said “it just looks like he’s lying on his back, nothing new”. I know it does, but I’m also the one that took this picture and was there to witness the roll-over, so I don’t care!
He’s started solids. Cereal. It’s cute. It’s messy.
He now has handles on his bottles, and is getting the hang of drinking by himself.
He sleeps well. Really well. Right through. If he does happen to wake up, he’s content with having a dummy stuck in his mouth and going back to sleep. He falls asleep by himself, without having to be rocked or patted or held. He’s also slept in his own room and in his own cot, since he was 3 months old, without hassles.
All in all? He’s amazing. Beautiful. We are extremely blessed and lucky to have him in our lives. And although The Kid said the other day that he wished The Toffee was bigger so he’d always have someone to play with at home – The Fiance and I are not in a rush for him to grow. He’s grown far too much already!
